About Xcanan
A story of plants, territory, and a way to re-inhabit the nature that we are, too.
What is Xcanan?
Xcanan was born from the desire to reclaim a more conscious relationship with nature, and especially with plants.
We live surrounded by a plant world that for centuries accompanied people not only as food or medicine, but also as a source of observation, learning, and connection with the rhythms of life.
Today, that relationship has been lost.
Through the herbal dispensary, individualized support, forest bathing, and retreats, Xcanan is an invitation to approach plants again with curiosity and respect. To discover that they can care for the body, but also teach us another way of inhabiting the world.
Because every plant has a language. And when we learn to listen to it, little by little we also learn to listen to our own.
How it all began
My relationship with plants changed in Mexico.
I arrived there in 2006, and it was there that my learning began, guided by the curandera María Galindo. With her, I discovered a way of understanding herbalism that went far beyond knowing a plant's properties. I learned to observe how it grows, the place it chooses to live, and everything it can reveal to us when we learn to look with attention.
That experience sparked a question that continues to accompany me to this day:
What do plants teach us when we learn to listen to their language?
Later, I lived in Costa Rica and traveled to France for a three-year training program in medicinal plants and natural medicines at the Imderplam School, where I studied botany, aromatherapy, traditional Chinese medicine, and other disciplines, consolidating a more scientific understanding. Years later, I also completed the training in Evolutionary Herbalism with Sajah Popham, integrating a holistic comprehension of the chemical, energetic, and spiritual qualities of plants.
For almost two decades, plants have accompanied my daily life: first taking care of myself, then my children, and those close to me. This constant practice eventually led me to professionally support other people.
Today, Xcanan is the fruit of that journey.
More than just offering answers
I don't believe that plants hold all the answers, nor that there is a medicine capable of solving everything.
Over time, I've come to understand that my job isn't to tell someone who they are or what they should do.
My role is to create a space where they can listen to themselves again.
Astro-herbalism, plants, and their symbolic language are tools that help us see more clearly. They show us patterns, reveal possibilities, and invite us to remember what, often, we already knew but had stopped listening to.
I like to think of my work as a bridge.
A bridge between a person and their own nature.
I don't offer answers. I accompany people in reconnecting with their own.
